Q.AZ Series EtherCAT compatible driver and OMRON Corporation PLC are used. When I try to turn the shaft by hand with the servo in an OFF state, it is heavy. Why is this?

AZ Series EtherCAT Compatible Driver:
AZD-AED, AZD-CED, AZD-KED, AZD2A-KED, AZD2B-KED, AZD3A-KED, AZD4A-KED, AZD-KRED
This is because the motor is in the dynamic brake state (the motor windings are in a state of being short-circuited inside the driver) to suppress regenerative voltage. To lightly turn the shaft by hand, one of the following methods can be used.
- Turn OFF the control power supply (If the control power supply is still ON even after the main power supply is turned OFF, the system will enter the dynamic brake state)
- Turn FREE Input ON
- In the base settings of Oriental Motor's support software MEXE02, set "Non-excitation mode-selection" to "Free-run status"
In the case of an electromagnetic brake motor, the electromagnetic brake will hold the motor in place when the servo is turned off.
