Q.What is the difference between ZHOME operation and return-to-home operation of the AZ Series?

A.

ZHOME Operation
This is a high-speed return-to-home operation that returns to the mechanical home in absolute coordinates determined in advance.
Since the origin is recognized by the ABZO sensor, it is possible to return-to-home at the same speed as normal positioning operation without using an external sensor.
Turn ON the ZHOME input to start.
Refer to here for more information about ABZO sensors.

Return-To-Home Operation
This refers to return-to-mechanical home operation, in which an external sensor is used to detect home.
Turn ON the HOME input to start.

There are four types of return-to-home operations.

Item Description Features
2-Sensor Mode When the limit sensor is detected, the motor reverses and escapes from the limit sensor. After escaping, the motor will move and stop by the number of steps set in the "(HOME) Backward steps in 2-sensor mode home-seeking" parameter. The stopped position is used as home.
  • Two external sensors are required
  • The operating speed is at a low rate
    (return-to-home starting speed)
3-Sensor Mode When the limit sensor is detected, the motor reverses and escapes from the limit sensor. After that, it stops when it detects the ON edge of the HOME sensor. The stopped position is used as home.
  • 3 external sensors are required*2
  • The operating speed is at a high rate
    (return-to-home starting speed)
One-way rotation mode It stops when it detects the ON edge of the HOME sensor. After that, it will escape at the speed set in the "(HOME) Return-to-home detection speed" parameter until the OFF edge of the HOME sensor is detected. After escaping, it will move and stop by the number of steps set in the "(HOME) one-direction rotation return-to-home movement amount" parameter. The stopped position is used as home.
  • One external sensor is required
  • The operating speed is at a high rate
    (return-to-home starting speed)
  • Not reversed
Push mode*1 The motor will reverse when it hits a stopper on the machine. After that, it moves and reverses by the "(HOME) Push-motion return-to-home initial return amount" only, and operates at the home detection speed. When the motor hits a stopper on the machine, the motor reverses and moves by the "(HOME) Push-motion return-to-home" only before stopping. The stopped position is used as home.
  • No external sensors required
  • The operating speed is at a high rate
    (return-to-home starting speed)
*1
Do not perform the return-to-home operation by the push mode with the geared motor.
*2
In a rotating mechanism, the home can be detected by a single external sensor.
