Dielectric Strength

Motors and circuits are designed to be insulated against the risk of electric shock. The test to confirm that the insulation will not break down under the specified conditions is called the dielectric strength test, and the test voltage is called the dielectric strength. The conditions for dielectric strength testing are specified in the applicable standards for the product.
