Takt Time

Takt time (TT: Takt Time) is the time taken to manufacture 1 product, also called pitch time.
The following formula is used to determine the time it takes to make 1 product by dividing the operating time by the number of required production units to be made. The shorter the takt time, the more product can be produced per operating time.

\(\begin{align}\text{takt time} =\frac{\text{operating time}}{ \text{the number of required production units to be made}}\end{align}\)

For example, if the regular workday is 8 hours (480 minutes) and 160 products are required per day, 480 minutes / 160 products = 3 minutes/piece, resulting in a takt time of 3 minutes.
