Synchronous Speed
It is unique, determined by the number of poles and power supply frequency of the motor, and is expressed by the following formula. Normally, it is displayed as rotation speed per minute.
\(\begin{align}{N_S} &= \frac{120 f}{P} [ \mathrm{r}/ \mathrm{min}]
\end{align}\)
- NS
- Synchronous Speed [r/min]
- f
- Frequency [Hz]
- P
- Number of Positions
- 120
- Constant
For example, for a 4-pole motor, if the power supply frequency is 50 Hz,
\(\begin{align}{N_S} &= \frac{120 \times 50}{4}\\[5pt]
& =\ 1500\ [ \mathrm{r}/ \mathrm{min}]
\end{align}\)
Above is the synchronous speed value. (4)
