AWG (American Wiring Gauge)
It is also called BS (Brown & Sharp Wire gauge), and it is assigned so that the area between 5 [mil] in diameter and 460 [mil] in diameter of a solid wire conductor is 36 AWG and 4/0 AWG, respectively, in geometrical progression.
- *1 [mil] = 1/1000 [inch]
From this value, the cross sectional area of the lead wire can be obtained as follows.
AWG No. | Lead wire cross sectional area (mm2) |
---|---|
26 | 0.129 |
24 | 0.205 |
22 | 0.326 |
20 | 0.518 |
